Recently, the Saudi Energy Efficiency Authority has notified that the rules for the use of the energy efficiency registration system will be updated from April 28, 2022, and additional fees will be required for some grades of energy efficiency labels, encouraging importers and manufacturers to use more efficient products.
The notice mainly includes the following two contents:
1. The increase in the registration fee of Saudi energy efficiency label:
On top of the original registration fee, additional fees are added as shown in the table below. The higher the energy-efficiency level of the product, the less the increased cost. For example, high-energy-efficiency products (such as A&B level) can be exempted from the increase in this part of the cost.
2. The approval time of the registration and use test report is extended:
Small air conditioners, washing machines, household refrigerators/freezers, clothes dryers, water heaters: within 2 years;
SASO 2870 for bulbs, SASO 2902 for lamps: within 3 years;
Street Lights SASO 2927: Within 5 years.
After the SASO registration fee is adjusted, the EER certification application process is updated as follows:
Add 1 payment process, a total of 2 payment processes, and the overall application cycle will be extended accordingly.
