On August 19, 2022, Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) released a draft of a new RoHS regulation notice titled "National Technical Regulations on Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment".
The main differences from the previous RoHS regulation (Circular 30/2011/TT-BCT) are as follows:
1. Four new phthalates are added to restricted substances;
2. A declaration of conformity needs to be submitted to the authorities;
3. The conformity mark needs to be displayed;
4. The appendix to the Exposure Draft lists several categories of electrical and electronic equipment that are RoHS type-approved, including:
IT and Telecom Equipment:
? Large business server
? Mini PC
? Printers and printing equipment
? PCs and laptops (including CPU, mouse, monitor and keyboard)
? laptop
? Notepad calculator
? Duplicate device
? Electrical and electronic typewriters
? Pocket and desktop computers and other devices that collect, store, process, present or communicate information electronically
? Fax machine
? Telex
? cell phone
? Telephone
? Answering systems and equipment for the transmission of sound, images or other information via telecommunications
Monitoring equipment:
? Smoke Detectors
? Heater
? Thermostat
? Other monitoring tools used in industrial installations (eg tools used in control panels)
The "Draft for Comments" will be implemented from January 1, 2026.
